PERSEVERANÇA DOS SANTOS: UMA CERTEZA DOS BATISTAS?

Resumo

Este trabalho relata pesquisa motivada por interesse em compreender qual a opinião que integrantes de uma igreja Batista têm tido a respeito da Doutrina da Perseverança dos Santos. Também, conhecida por segurança eterna do crente ou, ainda, preservação dos santos. Desta feita, para confirmar a percepção sobre a prevalência de dúvida e a relação que essa dúvida ou posicionamento tem com crenças religiosas anteriores, foi aplicado questionário aos frequentadores assíduos da escola bíblica dominical da Primeira Igreja Batista em Cabo Branco (PIBCB), João Pessoa, estado da Paraíba. Diante das respostas ao questionário, se observou a necessidade de estudar referencias teóricos das teologias católica e pentecostal predominante, sobre a perenidade da salvação em Cristo. Buscando-se entender como essas teologias – católica e pentecostal – influenciaram os crentes em Jesus em relação ao ensino presente no corpus doutrinário das igrejas históricas. Também, apresentar qual é o ensino desses preceitos constante da Declaração Doutrinária da Convenção Batista Brasileira e das obras de autores reformados e históricos.

Perseverance of the Saints: a certainty of the baptists?

Abstract: This paper reports on research motivated by an interest in understanding the opinion that members of a Baptist church have had regarding the Doctrine of the Perseverance of the Saints, also known as the eternal security of the believer or the preservation of the saints. Thus, to confirm the perception about the prevalence of doubt and the relationship that this doubt or position has with previous religious beliefs, a questionnaire was applied to regular attendees of the Sunday school of the First Baptist Church in Cabo Branco (PIBCB), João Pessoa, state of Paraíba. In view of the responses to the questionnaire, it was observed the need to study theoretical references of the predominant Catholic and Pentecostal theologies, about the permanence of salvation in Christ. Seeking to understand how these theologies – Catholic and Pentecostal – influenced believers in Jesus in relation to the teaching present in the doctrinal corpus of the historical churches. Also, to present what is the teaching of these precepts given by the Doctrinal Declaration of the Brazilian Baptist Convention and Reformed and historical authors.
