ENTRE A FUGA E A MISSÃO: UMA ANÁLISE DO LIVRO DE JONAS

Resumo

Este artigo propõe uma análise exegética e hermenêutica do livro de Jonas, utilizando o método histórico-gramatical como base interpretativa. O estudo segue a estrutura narrativa do texto bíblico, examinando cada um dos seus quatro capítulos em sua sequência literária, com ênfase nas expressões textuais, nas ações dos sujeitos e nos espaços simbólicos. Ao percorrer a fuga do profeta, sua experiência no ventre do peixe, a pregação em Nínive e seu confronto final com Deus, evidencia-se uma teologia da misericórdia divina, em contraste com a mentalidade humana. A leitura propõe uma compreensão do texto que considera sua dimensão histórica, literária e teológica, revelando a atualidade de seus temas para a espiritualidade e missão contemporâneas.

Between Flight and Mission: An Analysis of the Book of Jonah

Abstract: This article proposes an exegetical and hermeneutical analysis of the book of Jonah, using the historical-grammatical method as an interpretative basis. The study follows the narrative structure of the biblical text, examining each of its four chapters in their literary sequence, with emphasis on textual expressions, the actions of the subjects, and symbolic spaces. By tracing the prophet's flight, his experience in the belly of the fish, his preaching in Nineveh, and his final confrontation with God, a theology of divine mercy is evident, in contrast to the human mentality. The reading proposes an understanding of the text that considers its historical, literary, and theological dimensions, revealing the relevance of its themes for contemporary spirituality and mission.
