HINOS CRISTOLÓGICOS DO NOVO TESTAMENTO E A MÚSICA GOSPEL CONTEMPORÂNEA: UMA ANÁLISE COMPARATIVA APLICADA AO REPERTÓRIO DE CANÇÕES DO CULTO CRISTÃO

Resumo

O presente artigo propõe uma análise da função da música no culto cristão, abordando tanto os hinos cristológicos da igreja do primeiro século quanto a música gospel contemporânea. A problemática surge da variação contextual e das diferentes funções da música no culto ao longo da história, levantando questões sobre a sua utilização e conteúdo. O método adotado é descritivo, quanto ao conteúdo fez-se um trabalho de revisão bibliográfica, utilizando-se de uma abordagem comparativa entre os hinos do Novo Testamento e as músicas gospel atuais. O estudo responde se e como a música gospel contemporânea pode ser utilizada no culto cristão, considerando seus diferentes propósitos e mensagens. A pesquisa busca contribuir com a compreensão da música no culto cristão contemporâneo, fornecendo princípios para a escolha de repertório para o culto cristão baseados nos hinos do Novo Testamento e se divide em três partes: a primeira aborda a função dos hinos no contexto da igreja primitiva, a segunda discute o conceito e as funções da música gospel contemporânea, e a terceira apresenta uma proposta prática para a escolha de repertório no culto cristão.

Christological hymns from the New Testament and contemporary gospel music: a comparative analysis applied to the repertory of christian worship songs

Abstract: The present article proposes an analysis of the function of music in Christian worship, addressing both the Christological hymns of the first century church and contemporary gospel music. The problem arises from contextual variation and from different functions of music in worship throughout history, raising questions about its use and content. The method adopted is descriptive, and the content is based on a bibliographical review, using a comparative approach between New Testament hymns and current gospel songs. The hypotheses include the differentiation of music functions in both contexts and the influence of the music industry on gospel music production. The study answers whether and how contemporary gospel music can be used in Christian worship, considering its different purposes and messages. The research aims to contribute to the understanding of music in contemporary Christian worship, providing principles for choosing repertoire for Christian worship based on New Testament hymns, and it is divided into three parts: the first addresses the function of hymns in the context of the early church, the second discusses the concept and functions of contemporary gospel music, and the third presents a practical proposal for the choice of repertoire in Christian worship.
