A DESCONSTRUÇÃO DA UNIVERSIDADE: DA GRÉCIA ANTIGA À CONTEMPORANEIDADE

Resumo

Este artigo investigou histórica e criticamente a evolução das universidades, enfatizando as transformações de suas concepções, funções e lideranças desde a fundação da Academia de Platão até o cenário contemporâneo. O estudo utilizou um método qualitativo, centrado em revisão bibliográfica e análise documental, com caráter descritivo e exploratório. Analisou-se as influências históricas, culturais, políticas e econômicas sobre a educação superior, destacando as mudanças institucionais e ideológicas das universidades. Identificou-se uma significativa transformação ideológica e funcional das universidades ao longo da história, marcada pela tensão entre a missão essencial de formação cidadã e as demandas do mercado econômico. As conclusões indicam que as universidades enfrentam desafios contemporâneos para manterem sua missão de fomentar conhecimento, ética e cidadania, a globalização e a sociedade do conhecimento colocam a universidade em um contexto competitivo que visa principalmente retorno financeiro. O estudo sugere que a capacidade das universidades de equilibrar sua essência e as exigências econômicas contemporâneas é um fator crítico que tem impactado em sua relevância atual e em sua continuidade.

The University deconstruction: From Ancient Greek to Contemporary

Abstract: This article has historically and critically investigated the evolution of universities, emphasizing the transformations of their conceptions, functions, and leaderships from the foundation of Plato's Academy to the contemporary scenario. The study used a qualitative method, centered on bibliographical review and documental analysis, with a descriptive and exploratory nature. It analyzed the historical, cultural, political, and economic influences on higher education, highlighting the institutional and ideological changes in universities. A significant ideological and functional transformation of universities was identified throughout history, marked by the tension between the essential mission of citizen formation and the demands of the economic market. The conclusions indicate that universities face contemporary challenges to maintain their mission of fostering knowledge, ethics, and citizenship. Globalization and the knowledge society place the university in a competitive context aimed primarily at financial return. The study suggests that the ability of universities to balance their essence and contemporary economic demands is a critical factor that has impacted their current relevance and continuity.
